Georgie Dee was born and raised in coastal Queensland. After high school she attended University of Southern Queensland to complete a Bachelor in Creative Arts majoring in contemporary visual arts. Many transitions took place in Georgie’s life during this period like her faith and understanding of what it is to be an artist.
She resides in South-East Queensland where she is an active member of the Fraser Coast Arts Collective and is visual art teacher at TAFE Wide Bay.
I am an interdisciplinary artist exploring history and spirituality, influenced by my Christian faith. I work primarily with water-based paints that allow me to be gestural and work with immediacy but the ideas behind the work are carefully thought out and orchestrated.
Through a complex symbol system, my work entertains the themes of religion, humanity, depravity, psychology and visual culture.
The art is conceptually orthodox but visually unorthodox.
